Minimally invasive surgeries are performed through such small openings that the surgeon does not have the same view of the area as a surgeon performing an open procedure. To see inside the body during an MIS procedure, the surgeon may use any of the following tools and techniques :<\/p><ul><li><strong>Microscopy :<\/strong>\u00a0A surgical microscope placed over the retractor can provide the surgeon with a highly magnified, brightly illuminated view of the surgical area.<\/li><li><strong>Fluoroscopy :<\/strong>\u00a0This technique produces X-ray images in real time\u2013like a video X-ray. The images are projected onto a screen for the surgeon.<\/li><li><strong>Navigation :<\/strong>\u00a0 This technique allows the surgeon real time positioning of the instrument\/ implants in to the body without the need of repetitive C-arm\/ X-ray shoots minimizing radiation exposure.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><h5>\u00a0<\/h5><h5 class=\"vc_custom_heading faq-h\">Minimally invasive surgery procedures include :<\/h5><div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element vc_custom_1580449235855\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><ul><li><strong>Image-guided surgery\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0any procedure that uses special cameras to track instruments very precisely, like a GPS.<\/li><li><strong>Vertebroplasty-<\/strong>\u00a0a procedure used to treat Osteoporotic compression fractures.<\/li><li><strong>Microdecompression\/ laminectomy\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0removing the lamina, a bone that makes up part of the vertebra, in the lumbar spine (low back).<\/li><li><strong>Lumbar microdiscectomy\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0a procedure in which a surgeon uses a microscope and microsurgical tools to remove part of a spinal disc in the lumbar spine.<\/li><li><strong>Percutaneous pedicle fixation \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0the placement of metal rods and screws in sturdy sections of vertebrae called the pedicles.<\/li><li><strong>Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/advancedspinesurgeryindia.com\/transforaminal-lumbar-interbody-fusion\/\">(TLIF)<\/a>\u00a0\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0a procedure in which the surgeon removes a damaged disc (or discs) and places new bone in the available space.<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY Minimally&nbsp;= as little as possible Invasive&nbsp;= intrusive; involving less Soft tissue damage.
